What was the brief
Our brief required us to ensure the school's existing reception area followed Covid-19 regulations.
We were asked to install protective screens to ensure the reception area adhered to social distancing guidelines.
We also needed to provide clear signage for the students so it was easy to understand and follow the Covid-19 regulations.
What was the solution?
Creative Edge attended the site to carry out a survey of the existing area and plan. This helped us to understand what the required Covid-19 measures were. We then completed a detailed quote for the project.
The design process began, mocking up drawings and obtaining a sign-off approval from the client. Once this was achieved, the items were placed into manufacture. This included ordering in toughened glass for the safety screens.
The metal posts that hold the safety screens were powder coated, ready to be attached to the glass. Once the metal posts and the glass were manufactured, the delivery was arranged to have it all shipped to the client’s venue.
The final process was fitting out the Covid-19 protective screens within the reception area of the secondary school.
What was the outcome?
The new reception area was set-up ready to welcome students, staff and visitors.
The new reception area was Covid-19 safe, following regulations with additional glass screens fitted. The feedback from the reception staff was very positive as they were grateful for our work. The staff felt more relaxed and confident to meet and greet during their working day.
The transparent glass screens were of a high quality. The screens used 10mm toughened glass from perspex, and had a really positive feedback from the client. The type of glass used was of a high quality finish and provided the school with a long lasting solution. This meant they were easy to clean and decontaminate without scratching the surface.
During the design process, Creative Edge aimed for a solution that could still be left in place post Covid-19, and still look good and in keeping with the welcome desk.
